Myself with Carole Griffin's Emmy
ABOUT ME
I’ve always loved making something out of nothing.

My foray into fashion and costume began as far back as childhood when I would raid my Granny's ragbag to make my dolls clothes. I would sew them mini replica's of outfits I'd seen in magazines or films.

As a teenager I began creating my own clothes, making patterns out of newspaper. This was partially from a desire to be different and partly out of necessity for . I would scour charity shops and jumble sales for vintage clothing that could be reworked.

I have made a career out of my love for creating, and went on to learn professional pattern cutting and grading at The London College of Fashion. After graduating with a Higher National Diploma in Clothing (Technology) I worked as a designer, pattern cutter, seamstress and studio manager in the wedding industry for many years.

I set up my own business, Love Couture when I realized there was no opportunity for women to express their own personalities through bridal wear. I also wanted people to own something they could wear over again rather than just the once.

In 2016 I made a big change in my life, not only moving to Vancouver but also returning to education as an adult. I wanted to upgrade my fashion skills, graduating in 2018 with a Fashion Design and Production Diploma.

I have had some amazing experiences in transferring my skills over to fashion, theatre and film. Vancouver is such a wonderfully diverse city, full of creativity. I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would have ended up working as costume builder in the film industry here in beautiful BC. The highlight so far has been working on the Emmy award winning team for Shogun.
